The Father Bill Atkinson Scholarship
The Father Bill Atkinson Foundation will be awarding scholarships for the upcoming academic year to students desiring to attend Monsignor Bonner and Archbishop Prendergast High Schools. The award, renewable annually provided certain criteria are met, will be applied to the tuition and fees balance remaining after deduction for all other grants/scholarships. Please note the family will continue to have a 20% contribution. This award shall not exceed tuition guidelines as established by Monsignor Bonner or Archbishop Prendergast High Schools or the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, which may operate to limit the amount that the Foundation may grant in certain circumstances. Eligible candidates include new and current students to the high schools. Candidates must complete an application and postmark the application no later than March 1. The Father Bill Atkinson Foundation was chartered in 2008 as a not-for-profit organization. The purpose of this activity is to provide scholarships to students desiring an education at Monsignor Bonner and Archbishop Prendergast who by their own means cannot commit to the financial responsibilities.
Father Atkinson was a graduate of Monsignor Bonner High School and taught at the school for thirty years. He made a lasting impression on students, parents and fellow teachers and was known for his courage, integrity, sensitivity, patience and spirit. Selection of the scholarship awardees will be based on a reflection of these characteristics as well as an assessment of academic and extra-curricular efforts.
